News: Crossblades Happening Brambrüesch on 19./20. February 2022

Crossblades are a Swiss invention that revolutionizes snowshoeing. They offer the ascent comfort and sure-footedness of snowshoes and the effort-saving descent and glide of skis. Thanks to an innovative turning plate, you switch in seconds from ascent mode (climbing skin side) to descent mode (running surface with steel edges).

On the weekend of February 19/20, 2022, an exclusive Crossblades happening will take place on Chur's local mountain Brambrüesch. The location is ideally and conveniently accessible both by car and by public transport. Regular train connections bring the participants of the Trophy from near and far directly to Chur. From the city, the local mountain Brambrüesch can be reached in a few minutes with the Chur Cableways. Car drivers can reach the valley station of the mountain railroad from the Chur Süd exit. Parking spaces are available at the valley station, which can be used free of charge by guests of the Chur Cableways (license plate must be noted at the valley station).

February 19 is the ideal opportunity to test the Crossblades. The AIS sports school on Chur's local mountain Brambrüesch offers the Crossblades free of charge for testing on this day. As the starting point of the official routes of the Snowshoe Arena Dreibündenstein, there are excellent possibilities for the ascent - and for the descent you can choose between prepared slopes and variants off the beaten track in deep snow.  As part of the test event, the course of the Int. Crossblades Trophy on February 20 can also be visited and tested.

Growing Crossblades family chooses the champion

The Crossblades Championship will take place again in 2022. The Crossblades community competes on Chur's local mountain Brambrüesch and chooses the international champion 2022. Brambrüesch is the ideal venue for the international Crossblades Trophy. It is located on the official routes of the Snowshoe Arena Dreibündenstein, which connect the three areas of Brambrüesch, Feldis and Pradaschier. After being held nationally for the first time in 2018, the Crossblades Trophy is now being held internationally for the first time. The Trophy will take place for the third time on Sunday, February 20, 2022.

Crossblades are an innovative snowshoe system with which you can comfortably ascend in deep snow. At the top you have the advantage that you can - on the slopes, in powder snow or firn - also descend. And the Crossblades are also suitable for chairlifts and ski lifts. It is not by chance that the Crossblades Trophy takes place in the Snowshoe Arena Dreibündenstein. The possibility to ski down with the same equipment after the ascent makes it possible to combine the numerous signalized routes around the Dreibündenstein ideally in one day. Day tours between Brambrüesch, Feldis and Pradaschier can be experienced stress-free with bus transfer and chairlift/gondolas. Corresponding packages are offered by the transport companies of the region. In addition, there is the fine regional Graubünden gastronomy and nothing but silence.  

Fun and competition combined

For the Crossblades family, the focus is on fun and contact with like-minded people. Participation in the International Crossblades Trophy is open to all. It can be started in three categories. Participation is possible from the age of 12. All participants are already familiar with Crossblades. There are categories for women, men and youth (12 to 18 years). The title of International Crossblades Champion will be awarded in the adult category (19 years and older).

The course for both categories includes an ascent followed by switching the Crossblades to downhill mode (changing the plate) and then a giant slalom-like descent to the finish. Professional timekeeping will be used. The participants of the Trophy will be continuously informed on the spot about the status of the races. There will be catering facilities in the immediate vicinity of the finish. On Sunday, participants will be invited to an aperitif at the finish area after the races.
