Big Daddy Wilson feels that with his last album release – Deep In My Soul – he has closed the stylistic circle of his career. "I see it as a journey," Wilson says of his incredible story. It is the journey of a man who has found himself, who has traveled the world of the blues and made it back home after 25 years. But the journey should not end here. Wilson's latest album will pick up where she left off in 2019 and write new stories. "Hard Time Blues reflects the times we are living in right now and what those times bring – corona, poverty, injustice and other difficulties. It shows a new side of Big Daddy. Blues, soul, R&B, country and gospel all find their place on this album. Willie Dixon once said: "Blues is the root, everything else is the fruits." "With this album I intend to show a more modern side of myself. I also want to incorporate the influence that R&B has had on me over the last few years while staying connected to my roots and the blues." The song "Hard Time Blues" was leaked to me via Eric Bibb and Glen Scott. A beautiful blues song with the soul of a modern R&B song, through the blessed hands of Glen Scott. But also the excellent talent of Eric Bibb to tell a story, round off this first release. This album is filled with love, faith and hope. It is my expression of love for life and the blues. That's why I felt it was fitting to call this album "HARD TIME BLUES". I want to reach so many people with a simple message – let love into your hearts, because we need each other.
