Drummer Oliver Steidles is the winner of the German Jazz Award 2022 in the category Artists National. And rightly so – because his second album "Killing Popes" is a remarkable and logical development of the debut of this formation from 2019. The basis for this are the sophisticated, idiosyncratic and atmospheric compositions by Oliver Steidle and Dan Nicholls, who have bundled their creative input as a composer duo for this album. The formation, whose members are known to be mainly at home in the field of jazz and improvised music, succeeds in integrating various elements from electronic music and their targeted improvisational further development. The Killing Popes are "more killing than ever".
