«PRESS Play.» takes the audience into an interactive performance that plays with the freedom of a virtual world full of hidden algorithms. The audience has the control button in their hands and decides how the world changes on stage, in which direction the story goes and what happens to the characters. They become players themselves, and the players become the audience.

In social media, we determine what we get to see and what we don't. This apparent co-determination conveys a false sense of control and a great sense of responsibility: Can you really choose who you are? Are we manipulating things, or are we being manipulated? And what happens if it turns out that you're not the only one with a remote control? Is there also a pause button?

In «PRESS Play.» the country behind the avatars can be discovered. Come and play along.

Various programmers and makers from Ghent worked together on the production to develop a piece whose course can be determined by the audience in real time. A work for children, adolescents and adults alike, for control freaks, nerds, procrastinators and all those who feel like playing.
