For more than four decades, Romansh has had a uniform written language. In the recently published publication ("A Path to Unity in Diversity: A Plea for Rumantsch Grischun", Somedia Buchverlag, 2023), its initiator Bernard Cathomas takes stock of its creation, implementation and development.

The book forms the starting point for an event at the Cantonal Library of the Grisons. It offers the opportunity to take a look back at the history of "Rumantsch Grischun" and to deal with the successes, failures and effects of the project of a uniform written language on society – on a political, linguistic and social level.

The panel will bring together representatives of different generations of Romansh speakers – author Bernard Cathomas, journalist Claudia Cadruvi and author Laura Schütz – to discuss the past, present and future challenges facing the Romansh language minority. The event will be moderated by the Romance scholar and cultural mediator Chasper Pult.
