Still Life and Food Culture in Works of the Würth Collection
"People are what they eat." This statement, which is commonly attributed to the philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach, gets to the heart of the matter, so to speak. Food is an existential, cultural and social issue. It concerns us every day, in that we have to decide several times what we eat, and globally. This is because production, supply chains, packaging, etc. are often ecologically intertwined. In addition, there is the food culture, which has developed its rituals from the art of cooking to the type of consumption and has major regional differences.

No wonder that the theme has been reflected in art in many ways, even in the earliest cultural testimonies. And modern and contemporary art also deals with this central human topic. This is evidenced by a multifaceted selection from the Würth Collection in the works in the exhibition at the Forum Würth Chur.
