«Literatur am Mittag»: «Johann Peter Hebel – aktuell!»

Let yourself be seduced during your lunch break: Martina Kuoni presents a book, a personality or an incident from the literary world - stimulating, entertaining and informative. Classics and forgotten authors, bay rouvailles and special locations, rebellious writers and sensitive word artists - there is a lot to discover.

"Schatzkästlein des rheinischen Hausfreundes" (1811) – not a book title of our time. The stories in this collection, however, are timeless. Goethe, Walter Benjamin, Bertolt Brecht were among Hebel's admirers. The life-wise texts show a refined and enigmatic poet who has long been unofficially regarded as a classic of German literature. Johann Peter Hebel was born in Basel in 1761 and died in Karlsruhe in 1826. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his death, we take a look at the poet, theologian and educator and take a closer look at some of his texts.
