Andrea Kuratle grew up in Igis in Graubünden. After the teachers' seminar in Chur, he taught primary school classes in his home town for three years, where he directed the mixed choir. He completed his music studies at the Zurich University of Music, majoring in organ with Rudolf Scheidegger, with a teaching diploma and a concert entrance exam with the distinction "with distinction". At the same time, he earned his piano diploma at the Lucerne Conservatory. After a postgraduate course in Hamburg with a focus on baroque North German organ music and several years of teaching at the Graubünden teachers' seminar and at the Sargans cantonal school, he studied school music II at the Lucerne University of Music.
Andrea Kuratle is now a music teacher at the Grisons Cantonal School in Chur and organist at the Reformed parish of Chur (Comanderkirche). He is a sought-after concert organist for performances with choirs, as an accompanist and as a soloist. Andrea Kuratle does city tours for Chur Tourism on a part-time basis. In addition to his organ concerts and his concerts and performances with cantonal school classes, the numerous performances with his choirs are well remembered. He always succeeds in motivating and inspiring people for big music projects. Particular attention was paid to the performances with the Kammerphilharmonie Graubündenden and the Bündner Singkreis, which he directed for twenty-four years: the Requiem by Duruflé, the oratorios Elijah and Paul by Mendelssohn, the B minor Mass by J.S Bach, the oratorios Messiah and Israel in Egypt by Handel, the Seasons by J. Haydn, the Requiem by G. Verdi, the A flat major Mass by F. Schubert, the Requiem by J. Rutter, the Sunrise Mass by O. Gjeilo, the Misa Tango by Bacalov and the Gloria by Karl Jenkins were under his direction.
In 1997, Andrea Kuratle received the Advancement Award of the Canton of Graubünden for his work.
