Devonas assumes that every person, no matter how educated or reflective, remains stuck in his or her own perception. Absolute objectivity is structurally inaccessible to humans. For Devonas, it is the task of the artist to educate himself and sharpen his own perceptual ability, but never at the expense of existential sound. In his painting and sculpture, Devonas combines classical craftsmanship with contemporary themes. The human body remains its central subject, not as an anatomical object, but as a carrier of history, psyche and lived individuality. The tension between the general and the unmistakable is palpable in each of his works.
