Ort
Churwalden, Posthaltestelle Furnerschhus

As early as 15 BC, an important Alpine route led through the valley, connecting north and south via the Septimer Pass. Muleteers, traders, and pilgrims brought prosperity, goods, and stories to the region. With the development of transport routes and the use of horse-drawn carriages, Churwalden gained further importance: large quantities of hay had to be provided for the more than 800 carriage horses. The emerging spa tourism, the healthy Alpine air, and the local regional specialties are renowned far beyond the region. Discover the origins of Bündnerfleisch (air-dried beef), surprising anecdotes, and fascinating personalities – a journey through the vibrant past of a special village.
