Description
This hike over the highest excursion mountain of Arosa offers an overview of the entire hiking and skiing area. The starting point is the middle station of the Arosa-Weisshorn aerial cableway. From here, the path leads steadily uphill through meadow and moss landscapes with extensive views of the Schanfigg valley. The final stretch to the summit from the Sattel hut (unmanaged in summer) mainly leads through rocky terrain. On the Weisshorn, you can expect a 360° mountain panorama and the summit restaurant with the highest small bakery in Europe.
A steep descent of similar character follows to the managed Carmennahütte. The path leads back down to the valley across meadows past the Alpenblick excursion restaurant to Innerarosa. Here, a detour to the mountain church as well as a visit to the Schanfigg local heritage museum is worthwhile (please observe opening hours).
Geheimtipp
Check with the local tourist office about the opening hours of the mountain restaurants and the Schanfigg local heritage museum (not open every day of the week).
Directions
If you leave the middle station of the Arosa Weisshorn aerial cableway (LAW) to the right, follow the signs towards Hauptichopf and Weisshorn. From the Weisshorn summit, follow the signs downhill towards Innerarosa passing the Carmennahütte.
