Description
An excursion in and around Tschiertschen
with Hans Strassmann and Patrick Schildknecht.
Saturday, May 16, 9:00 a.m. – approx. 12:15 p.m. from Kiesgrube / Bödem, above Tschiertschen
https://s.geo.admin.ch/hjcfofxut5tf
This time we explore the bird life around the village of Tschiertschen.
We meet at 09:00 a.m. at the gravel pit / Bödem above Tschiertschen and watch for a while what is sitting and singing on the trees. With a bit of luck we will hear the green woodpecker and maybe also the black woodpecker there. Then we walk over Bödem to the vicinity of the Clüslistein, where the transition from lean meadows to the edge of the forest can provide surprises.
Afterwards we go down to the village, where we observe settlement birds. Perhaps the rock swallows will show their flying skills.
At the end we walk down through the village to the bypass at Maläris and hope to see birds of prey, great spotted woodpeckers, long-tailed and marsh.
In general, the breeding business is still in full swing, which means that many adult birds bring food to the nesting sites. The excursion lasts until about 12:15 p.m.
We are on the road in two groups: one led by Patrick Schildknecht; he is a mapper at the Sempach Ornithological Institute and knows Tschiertschen very well. The other is led by Hans Strassmann, field ornithologist.
The excursion is carried out in almost any weather, even in light rain. However, if it rains twine, it will be cancelled.
In case of doubt, the telephone number 079 914 07 55 will provide information the evening before from 6:00 p.m.
If available, please take binoculars with you, maybe also some snacks.
