Event Chur
Vortrag bei der Rätischen Vereinigung für Familienforschung
Description
First, the 26th Annual General Meeting will take place, followed by a presentation by:
Rätus Fischer: The Fischer family of St. Antönien
Like many others at that time, Johann Peter Fischer bought into St. Antönien-Rüti in 1811. The origin of the fishermen from northern Germany, and much more from the history of the family, is documented in the family chronicle. My father Rudolf Fischer wrote it with the genealogist Ernst Alther and published it in print. So that it is not only about names, dates and sources, I would like to go a little further and report anecdotally what I myself know about the last four generations. Just as behind every member of the family tree there is a life story, shaped by the spirit of the times, by world events and personal circumstances.
Rätus Fischer first grew up in the Zurich Oberland and lived in Flawil from the age of five. After completing an apprenticeship as an electronics technician and studying agronomy at ETH with a doctorate in organic farming, he lived in the USA for almost thirty years. In 2008, he moved back to Flawil SG in Switzerland with his American wife. However, his homeland of Graubünden has never let him go, and the connection to his origins has remained to this day.
