Description

You can cover the first 580 metres in altitude comfortably with the Brambrüeschbahn. It is worth making a short stop at the Känzeli middle station, because the view of the city of Chur from here is spectacular.

Then continue on a wide gravel road for a few metres to the former Känzeli restaurant. There you turn onto the hiking trail towards Malix / Churwalden. Directly after the restaurant, a flowing single trail begins. Please stay on the hiking trail around the building and do not cross the meadow.

The trail then leads into the forest and soon crosses other hiking trails. After a bit on the gravel road, you pass the White House and dive back into the forest. The experienced trail eye will discover one or two steep trails down to the left. However, the route remains on the hiking trail, which climbs steadily slightly until you leave the forest and pass the Swiss family's fireplace.

Shortly afterwards you reach Malix and cross the historic village centre. On the other side of the main road begins the lower part of the "Syrup Trail". Small hairpin bends and challenging root passages provide variety. The trail is easy to ride and is roughly in the red difficulty level. It ends just above the Passugg Hotel Management School.

After a short stretch on the Chur – Tschiertschen connecting road, the route turns onto the Zig-Zag-Trail. Several switchbacks follow each other briefly. They are all rideable, but moving them with a rear wheel is even more fun. Shortly before the city, turn left again and take the last switchbacks with you.

The trail ends near Chur's old town. Then the question arises: Off to the city for an aperitif or up again with the Brambrüeschbahn and add another trail?
