For generations, Black people have met in beauty salons to get their hair done, buy hair products, and talk about private and social events. While new hairstyles are created in the "beauty salon", the four people who meet there tell stories about Black Switzerland. This is their space, these are their stories, and the audience is welcome to listen. This production was developed in Bern by an ensemble of dancers and musicians – including Martha Mutapay and Luisa Wolf from Graubünden – and is now a guest at the Chur Theatre.

**There is a contextual programme for this guest performance with reference to the Action Week against Racism Graubünden. The guest performance Beautysalon is made possible by the support of the Office for Migration and Civil Law Graubünden.**

Around the beauty salon performances, the Chur Theatre celebrates a salon festival: the foyer and theatre bar become an open meeting place with food, hair magic, photo carousel and community vibes from 6 p.m. onwards.

O Garfo da Carla from Chur, known for Portuguese-African cuisine with seafood and a tropical feel, and Ivan Eugenio Cardoso Barrama from the Calanda Pizza Restaurant in Zizers, who brings his favourite Mozambican-influenced dishes from the kitchen, will provide the food.

In keeping with the piece, two hair salons from Chur are also on site: Juana's Glamour Styling from the old town, a salon on Storchengasse with a lot of feeling for individual styles and inviting, almost Caribbean flair, as well as the Afro Shop Zemen on Gürtelstrasse, whose focus is on Afro hair, braids and matching care products. In the foyer, the photo carousel of Johannes Paula invites you to have your portrait taken. In this way, the audience actively participates in creating a living archive of beauty in all its diversity.

On the first evening of the performance, 25 March, the Swiss-Mexican DJ and producer Jamira Estrada will play at the Salonfest and after the performance – with a mix of experimental club sound, bass and Latin influences. The salon party invites you to eat, dance, talk and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the beauty salon before and after the performance.

The salon festival invites you to eat together before the performance, get into conversation and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the beauty salon - a small safer space in the middle of Chur.
