Filmpremiere "WALTER LIETHA - DRUM SING I GRAD DRUM"

Xenix Film will release the film "Walter Lietha - Drum sing i grad drum" in cinemas on April 16. In addition to the regular theatrical release throughout German-speaking Switzerland, a special screening will take place on April 11, 6:30 p.m. at the Apollo Chur cinema in the presence of Walter Lietha, Stefan Haupt (director), Corin Curschellas and Jon Domenic Parolini.

The Graubünden singer, poet and composer Walter Lietha was one of the big names on the Swiss music scene in the 1970s. With his poetic, sometimes time-critical dialect songs, he became the voice of an entire generation. But at the beginning of the 1980s, this voice was largely silenced in public. Lietha's songs were hardly played on the radio anymore, it became quiet around the musician.

In August 2025, the "Alpentöne" music festival honoured the now 75-year-old artist with a major tribute concert. Musicians such as Corin Curschellas, Sophie Hunger, Stephan Eicher, Michael von der Heide, Max Lässer and the Narrenschiff Band stood on stage with him and tell what Lietha's songs mean to them. The concert thus becomes the heart of the film, around which Lietha's songs, his thoughts, memories and utopias gather.

Stefan Haupt (STILLER, ZWINGLI, ZÜRCHER TAGEBUCH and others) offers a cinematic review of the career of the idiosyncratic bard, a reflection on the possibilities of poetry and protest, and on the never-ending power of music.
