Jan Lisiecki

The young Canadian Jan Lisiecki proves that there is always something new to say about the Beethoven concertos. His playing shows a lot of determination, it is intense and sonorous, wonderfully audible, beautiful in sound and expressive.

Ludwig van Beethoven was also an excellent pianist and master of improvisation. It is therefore not surprising that he often sat at the grand piano himself as a soloist during the performances of his piano works. This was also the case at the premiere of his Third Piano Concerto on 5 April 1803 in Vienna. With the Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Beethoven struggled free from some of the influences of his cadre forge with Joseph Haydn. In addition, he defied the expectations placed on him in Vienna as "Mozart's successor". Beethoven showed his true face. The critics were flabbergasted, the audience cheered. Vienna had never heard such bold tones before!
