Retuorn dellas hirundellas (The Return of the Swallows).
What would Rhaeto-Romanic culture be without its songs? They are the resounding memory of a people who have lived for centuries between emigration and return, between joy and pain. They reflect stories of distance and home, of love happiness and love's sorrow. For their joint project, Sara-Bigna Janett and Elizaveta Parfentyeva researched in archives and came across songs that had been waiting a long time to be heard again by an audience. Some of these works are now being heard again for the first time in many decades. The two musicians found this selection so touching that they have also recorded a CD from it. Now they are bringing the songs to the stage – Rhaeto-Romanic melodies of farewell and return, of intimate love and quiet melancholy, of cheerful exuberance and deep longing. The program includes songs by Duri Sialm, Benedikt and Tumasch Dolf, Armon Cantieni and Gion Giusep Derungs.
Sara-Bigna Janett comes from an old family of musicians in Switzerland and has been taking singing lessons from her father Jachen Janett since the age of six. She completed her bachelor's degree in concert singing at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in Innsbruck with Sebastién Soules and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Regine Köbler. In the summer of 2014 she appeared as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre under the baton of Guido Mancusi, in a production that toured various European cities in the following years. In 2015 she sang her role debut as Adele in Die Fledermaus at the Schlossoper Haldenstein and also made her debut as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Vienna with Haydn's Creation. In 2017, she completed her master's degree with Prof. Lubica Orgonášová at the Zurich University of the Arts with distinction. She sings in various ensembles, including Origen and the Zurich Chamber Singers. In 2019 she sang for the first time as a soloist in the Philharmonie in Berlin and made her debut at the Bernhard Theater.
