Erik-Jan van der Hel

(*1967) studied organ with Peter van Dijk, Jacques van Oortmerssen (Amsterdam University of Music) and Maurice Pirenne (Utrecht University of Music). He also studied church music and harpsichord with Anneke Uittenbosch for several years. Further studies with Stef Tuinstra, master classes with Lorenzo Ghielmi and Jean-Claude Zehnder.

He won prizes at the Albert Schweitzer Festival in Deventer (1987), the Swiss Organ Competition in Graubünden (1992) and the Paul Hofhaimer Competition in Innsbruck (1995).

Erik-Jan van der Hel was organist and church musician at the Immanuelkerk in Ermelo for 44 years (organ by Reil, 1981, based on Hinsz, 1764/1765), he plays concerts, teaches and composes. He has also made various radio and CD recordings and has been a concert giver and lecturer at the improvisation courses in Lausanne on several occasions. From 1992 onwards, Erik-Jan van der Hel played several concerts in Graubünden.
