BUBBLES #2.1: Curdin Schneider – Soundperformance
Description
Interference (sound performance, 2026). In sound recordings of carbonated water, Curdin Schneider unexpectedly discovers a similarity to sounds created by granular synthesis. This method breaks down audio material into tiny fragments, which are then rearranged and superimposed. The bursting of the bubbles produces sharp, delimited sounds and thus marks the acoustic moment of disappearance.
Schneider uses this discovery as a starting point. He complements his existing sound library with new recordings of sparkling mineral water, understands them as everyday sound fragments and processes the material into sound spaces. This opens up its own, sometimes eerie sound world, into which distorted techno beats occasionally creep in.
Curdin Schneider (1977) lives and works in Chur. In addition to experimental video works and visual works, he has been researching electronic sound worlds for almost thirty years – so far largely hidden and away from commercial exploitation.
