In her lecture, Simona Boscani Leoni focuses on a series of murals that were created in various churches and chapels of the former diocese of Chur between the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the modern era – a time of great political and confessional upheavals. What function did these paintings have from a religious, social and political point of view? What effect did the Reformation have in this respect? And how can we use these iconographic sources to understand the past and present?
