LÒN - Musik aus Island

LÓN is the latest project by one of Iceland's best-known artists, Valdimar Guðmundsson, who is best known as the frontman of the six-piece rock band Valdimar. For his new project, he has teamed up with musicians Ásgeir Aðalsteinsson and Ómar Guðjónsson to explore their folk roots in a soulful Americana style. Formed during the lockdown in 2020, the trio found solace in making music together and recording in a cabin on Iceland's largest lake, Þingvallavatn.

Their debut album *Thankfully Distracted* reflects on topics such as aging, parenthood and the passage of time. With a mixture of jazz riffs, folk charm and Valdimar's poignant vocals, LÓN effortlessly creates an atmospheric soundscape. Her introspective lyrics speak of the bittersweet process of getting older - welcoming the new chapters of life while mourning the loss of youth.

Each member of LÓN brings a wealth of experience and awards to the group. Together, they have won numerous Icelandic music awards, including Best Rock Song, Best Rock Album, Best Jazz Album, and Best Jazz Song. Her debut single *My Father* takes the listener on an emotional journey through the complexities of middle age, showing the delicate balance between comfort and loss.

LÓN has already caused a stir with performances at Folk Alliance International and SXSW and is quickly gaining recognition both in Iceland and abroad. With a successful European tour in 2023 and 2024 and partnerships with U.S. management and booking agencies, LÓN is ready to showcase their unique blend of Americana to an international audience.
