Description

If you want to combine riding technique with a view over the city of Chur, this trail is the right place for you. Although it is relatively short, it offers a lot of variety: soft, flowing forest floor, very narrow hairpin bends, smaller root passages and a few stony sections. The trail is usually only a few centimeters wide and is lined with bushes on the left and right.

The lines are not exposed – especially in the hairpin bends – which makes it much easier to practice this technique. The hairpin bends are actually as sharp as the Matterhorn and can hardly be mastered without moving the rear wheel. Further down, the view opens up over Chur, with the Montalin and the Churer Joch in the background - a real highlight.

Access:
The starting point is Haldenstein. From there, an asphalt road leads uphill towards the Calanda Hut, past the ruins of Haldenstein. After about 450 metres of altitude, a wide dirt road branches off to the left shortly before the Arella mountain pasture and leads relatively flat to the Under Schindlaboda. At the edge of the forest on the left is the entrance - a small gap in the fence shows the way.

Way back:
After the trail, you can either roll back to Haldenstein via the Feldstrasse or - if the Rossboden shooting range is not closed - continue to the right in the direction of Felsberg.

Geheimtipp

Thanks to its low location and orientation on the south side of the Calanda massif, this trail is passable almost all year round. But be careful in wet conditions: roots and leaves can quickly turn the trail into a slippery affair.
