Vernissage LG NATUR #3: Marco Piroddi – Lei era qui

Lei qui,
ed io
con il silenzio in mano.

The last lines of Piroddi's poem refer to the title of the exhibition: Lei era qui (German: She was here). The exhibited series of works Solidity of Instability thematizes the disappearance of nature and our delayed, often distanced view of it. Piroddi's sculptures show idiosyncratic combinations of materials in which the natural is interwoven with the artificial. The origin and degree of processing of these materials remain undetermined – as does the extent to which they are alienated from their originality.
With the virtual extension in the outdoor space – regardless of location – visitors once again encounter the sculptures in a hybrid setting. The interweaving of the real environment and plastic reveals new dimensions of the repression of the natural. In this superimposed reality, a further, experiential imagery emerges.

Marco Piroddi (1984, Zizers GR), grew up in Sardinia, currently lives in Zizers and works in Chur. After training as a chef, he turned intensively to art. He works in the fields of painting, sculpture and digital media. The forms are often created in dialogue with the material itself. He explores the boundary between the visible and the invisible. In doing so, he refers in particular to postmodernism and the philosophy of Byung-Chul Hans Undinge (2021), which emphasizes the need to recognize the fragmentation of the self caused by the modern world and its flood of information. For Piroddi, the dissolution of boundaries does not mean a rupture, but a gentle dissolution of the margins – an invitation to openness, in which the work does not determine, but asks.
