Rheingenuss additional tour Hinterrhein Bonaduz -Thusis - Bonaduz

We start at the train station in Bonaduz and take the roads with little traffic down towards Hinterrhein, passing the "Sogn Gieri" church. This is a rare example of a fully painted medieval hall church north of the Alps. We can see Rhäzüns Castle from afar and now reach the Hinterrhein, which we follow to the historic trading town of Thusis (680 m above sea level). We now return along side roads through the gentle hills of the Domleschg orchard and Burgenland. In Fürstenau we pass Schauenstein Castle, where Andreas Caminada (awarded 3 Michelin stars and 19 Gault Millau points) runs his first restaurant, next to which is the Stoffelhaus, inviting you back into the past. The route continues slightly uphill towards Almens and on along Lake Canova to Paspel, where you can admire the works of art by the famous artist Robert Indermauer. At the Dusch organic farm, we have now reached the highest point of our tour. There is a short rest on the ride to Rothenbrunnen. Between Thusis and Rothenbrunnen you can see various castles and palaces. Brief portraits of 15 of them can be found in the handy MiniGuide leaflet. Via the Polenweg we come to Rheichenau, where we can admire the confluence of the Hinterrhein and Vorderrhein rivers, and soon we are back in Bonaduz at our starting point.
