Description
Ringelspitz (Romansh: Piz Barghis) lies directly on the border between the cantons of Graubünden and St. Gallen. Due to its detached location it offers a spectacular panoramic view, far into the surrounding mountains. However, the climb is challenging. It requires experience in alpine tours as well as a solid grasp of rope handling and route finding. The route across the central ridge leads over firn ice, glaciers and grade 4 climbing passages. Difficult passages are provided with bolts, hooks and abseiling equipment. Total climbing time is approx. 5 hours from Ringelspitz cabin (www.ringelspitz.ch).
The Ringelspitz massif is located in the heard of the Tectonic Arena Sardona, a UNESCO World Heritage site. At the Tectonic Arena Sardona, the diverse phenomena of Alpine formation become visible and tangible in the midst of a unique and breathtaking natural landscape.
