Landslide arena and tuma landscape

Where we normally travel by car, train or post bus, there is an astonishing world of seemingly strange rocks, rocks and hills. 30-50 million years ago, huge packages of rock were pushed on top of each other. These include volcanic rocks that are up to 270 million years old and somewhat younger marine sediments. Important witnesses are individual geological outcrops along the way. Prasinite, a metamorphic basalt, was once mined here for commercial purposes. "only" about 10,000 years ago, a rock mass fell from the Kunkels and was partially pushed further by the subsequent Flims landslide. On the leisurely hike from Tamins to Domat/Ems, biblical periods are put into perspective. But the variety of landscapes is also always fascinating.
